Axium Education, founded in 2009, currently serves 4000 learners across two education districts in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Based in the rural village of Zithulele, its vision is to see every rural student leave school with purpose, agency and options. The organization has ambitious plans to grow its quality and reach over the next three years through partnerships with government, donors and other non-profit organizations.
With these growth plans in mind, Axium is looking for a dynamic Content Developer who is passionate about our mission and has the appetite, experience and expertise to make a success of this important
role. This role is ideal for someone who wants to live and work long term in the beautiful, bustling rural village of Zithulele. It provides a unique and wonderful experience of living ‘in community’ with professionals who are like minded and passionate about positive change and community development.
Key duties and responsibilities
The content developer is responsible for planning, recording, editing, curating and sharing video content reflecting Axium’s classroom and leadership best practices, for use in training, fundraising and advocacy work. This includes the administration of POPI consent issues for this content. They will also be responsible for the adaptation and organisation of existing resources into curated online resource packs and the creation of print materials(workbooks, handbooks etc) In addition, they will assist various team members with the creation and adaptation of PowerPoint and other presentations for various internal and external functions
● Undertake the planning, recording, editing, curating and sharing video content reflecting Axium classroom and leadership best practices.
● Coordinate all POPI related administration for Axium classroom and leadership content
● Undertake the adaptation and organisation of existing resources into curated online resourcepacks and the creation of print materials (workbooks, handbooks etc.).
● Assist various team members with the creation and adaption of powerpoint and other presentations for various internal and external functions.
● Support the development of various training and education related templates and procedures related to content creation.
● Monitor quality of Axium content and provide feedback to relevant team members, supporting the improvement of content quality where needed.
● Support the review, updating and organisation of templates and the content library.
General requirements
● Driver’s license is required.
● IsiXhosa proficiency is an advantage but not a requirement.
● Must be proficient in video filming and editing, and should be able to provide a portfolio of previous work in this area.
● Must be proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
● Must be a skilled visual designer.
● Must be familiar with design software such as Canva and Photoshop.
● Must have creative and innovative skills
● Partial remote work may be a possibility for this role( with negotiations), but at least 50% of the time will be spent on site.
● Must have a clear criminal record as MIE will be conducted.
● Must have valid documentation to work in South Africa if foreign nationals.
Qualifications and experience
● NQF level 7 degree in Marketing or related field
● 2-3 years relevant experience as Content Developer
● Those who have experience as Content Designer will be considered for this role.
● Experience in working in an NGO environment will be advantageous .
● Must have experience in working with multimedia designs
